The Challenge

I have been lucky enough to be the lead designer and developer for Grand Oaks since they first became Graphcom’s client back in 2015. At that time, one of our first major initiatives was improving their website’s page speed/load time, and an overall revamp of their web presence. Their existing site was taking over 10 seconds to load, and the design wasn’t quite reflective of the high-end service and facilities that they offer their residents. They wanted a more modern look that still catered to their older demographic, established brand consistencies, and positioned their facility as the premier assisted living residence in D.C. 

The Solution

The team began Grand Oaks’s website redesign by reworking the sitemap and rewriting content. Next, we established style guidelines that were implemented site-wide to create consistency. New photos, graphics, and icons we added, and the typography was updated for increased legibility. All assets were optimized properly, and we were able to apply multiple fixes to increase the site’s load time (minifying code, loading code asynchronously, moving to a more reliable hosting platform, etc.) After the core cosmetic and technical changes were put in place, we also established an ongoing maintenance and marketing plan for long-term ROI. We overhauled all the existing landing pages and content offers and updated ad content and keywords to better reflect what users would see on the pages.

Even after the initial website redesign, our work was far from done. Post launch, we assisted the Grand Oaks team in establishing a blog post schedule, revamped social media efforts, and launched a Google Adwords campaign with lead-generation-capturing landing pages. Over the past few years, the team’s digital marketing efforts have helped Grand Oaks go from 83% to 98% occupancy. Conversions were increased by over 200% while reducing the cost per conversion by ~72%.
